What action(s) did we take?
•Using weekly nature walk (Walking Wednesday) as inspiration, students builtbackground knowledge about needs of living things
•Students then used new vocabulary to write stories and non-fiction passages about worms
How did it support increasing engagement, deepening thinking, and developing comprehension?
•This extended inquiry led students to grow their content vocabulary knowledge as well as to develop skills in questioning and making inferences
•Engagement with learning was increased by a natural curiosity that connected to the inquiry
