What actions did we take? 

• school-wide read aloud & thinking routines
• using vertical writing surfaces
• instructional flow for literacy lessons: Mini Lesson, Guided Practice, Application 

How did it support increasing engagement, deepening thinking, and developing comprehension? 

• creating access points for all learners increased engagement in learning
• small group activities provided time, space, and structure for students to share ideas and build on each other's ideas to deepen thinking and grow comprehension of text and content
