Nature Field Guide
An action that we have taken to support our school’s learning focus is: Nature Field Guide
As a class, students used a variety of texts (non-fiction books, videos, field guides, etc.) to learn about local plants, animals, and insects. Then, they co-created a field guide of living things at Wowk.
This action supports our school’s learning focus in the following ways:
•Build background knowledge through text sets
•Opportunity for students to make connections between text and outdoor learning experiences
•Questioning – students were encouraged to ask questions and make connections
•Sharing of information – writing with a purpose
