PAC Meeting Minutes - Feb 2021

- Meeting Began at 6:35pm

In attendance:
 

Mr. Kibblewhite, Amelia Leung, Alaric, Lea-Anne, Yvonne Lee, Mabel Kwok, Min Yan Qiu, Laura Chan, Yanny Yeung, Jon Lau, Jayce Koo’s mom, Rose Leonor

Welcome and Introductions:

- Alaric welcomed all the parents

Adopt January Minutes & February 2021 Agenda
 

Food Days:

  • Staff met with Dr. Kibblewhite, they have a decision making committee (SCC) how the school is run. Staff had a secret ballot and the vote was 4 in favor and 7 were against. Staff feel that the kids are now comfortable in their routines and they don’t want to have additional food days to disrupt that. We may consider that in September in the new school year.

Grant:

  • $1500 grant from Fresh Slice
    • Upgrade sports/gym equipment
  • PAC issued cheque to School:
    • $1000 toward technology (ie: ipads)

Financial Report by Jon:

  • Financial report remains the same as there weren’t any activities because of covid. 

RDPA report:

  • Parents are wondering if online learning will be extended till the end of the school year.
  • District is still offering Food Safe Certificate if any PAC member is interested

 

Mr. Kibblewhite’s report:
 

  • Update on Mrs. Salewski
    • She may come back part time after spring break
  • School has an emergency shed 
    • At the front of the school by the parking lot
    • In case of earthquakes, kids will be taken care of for 72 hours with staff staying by their sides. 
    • Includes food and water, portable toilets, emergency blankets...etc
  • Annual survey for Gr. 5 students:: 
    • How are 10yr old children doing (mentally and physically)
  • Dare Program continues with Mr. Candola (sp?) 
  • Global Playdate:
    • Boardgames, being hands on with our kids
  • Pink Shirt Day - February 24
  • Transitional Learning:
    • School board will make decision on March 10th, and April 6th will be the deadline
  • Library Renovation:
    • Library will be closed starting next week as the staff need to clear all the books and equipment.
    •  On track for Renovation; received quotes for carpet, foreman...etc
    • Renovations will still happen during the 2 weeks of spring break.
  • Graduation Camp:
    • Currently suspended because of Covid, the camp site is currently closed.
