We’re really excited for our upcoming Sports Day and we’re reaching out to you today with some important information to help make your child’s day a safe and enjoyable one.

Bike Parade 

All students are welcome to ride their bike or scooter as part of the bike parade. We do ask for all families to please make sure that your child is wearing a helmet for this event if they are participating.

The Weather 

Currently the weather is looking as though there is a possibility of rain and we will be deciding tomorrow morning if our day will go ahead as planned or if we will be planning on postponing it until Monday, June 12^th .

Please note that we will be providing an update at 8am tomorrow morning of whether Sports Day is cancelled on our school website at https://wowk.sd38.bc.ca/

Parent Appreciation on Sports Day 

As a thank you to all of our parents for everything you have done this year to help support our community, there will be a Parent Appreciation space located under the covered area on the south side of the school. Please look for the decorated bulletin board. Parents and families who are attending our Sports Day are welcome to come by and have a treat and a cup of tea and sit and be together. 

Hot Lunch

All hot lunch orders will still be provided on Friday, June 9^th even if Sports Day is cancelled.  

• If Sports Day happens tomorrow, parents and families who ordered hot lunch can come to their child’s classroom door at 12:00 pm. Your child will bring out your family’s order and you are welcome to have a picnic lunch together from 12:00 to 12:50 pm.  

• If Sports Day is cancelled, parents and families who ordered hot lunch are still welcome to come to their child’s classroom door at 12:00 pm to receive their order. We will ask your child to walk it out to you. Otherwise, your child will bring it home with them at the end of the day.  

Dismissal Times 

A reminder for families that dismissal time for Sports Day is 1:30 pm. 

If Sports Day is cancelled, it will be a regular school day and dismissal will be at 2:45pm. 

If Sports Day happens on Monday, June 13^th, dismissal will be at 1:30 pm. We understand that this change is challenging for some families to arrange for pick up. Our staff are able to provide supervision for those students who cannot be picked up at 1:30 on Monday.
