PAC Meeting Minutes - Sep

Tuesday September 18th, 2018

In attendance:

Joanne Rooney, Lisa Cheung, Bonnie Wong, Alaric Wang, Winnie Leung, Christina Lau, Laura Chan, Ashley W, Meng Wu, Petty Ngan, Vivian Yang, Annie Fang, Pei Yan, Jenny Wu, Manli Yang, Stephanie Tian, Chau Wang, Eric Wang, Samantha Shaw, Lerisssa Tam, Rosellie Leonor, Jessica Kuo.

Meeting began at 9:00am

Welcome and Introductions:

  • Welcomed everyone to the meeting while a sign-in sheet is passed around the room.
  • COBS Bread came and introduced 5% cash back on bread purchased at Blundell Mall. Parents only need to mention JESSIE WOWK when making a purchase.
  • Ms Ping introduced herself as our new (SWISS) school Settlement Worker. Mr. Chow retired in June.

Approval of May Minutes

Approval of Sept Agenda

Financial Reports:

We begin the year with $19675 in our general account and $182 in our gaming account. Our gaming grant has been submitted and is pending approval at approximately $20 per student.

Reporting on Past events and programs:

1. School Garden

  • Phase 1 of Outdoor classroom is completed, other phases are in process.
  • New Sprinklers has been bought by PAC.

2. Outdoor Fundraising

  • Hot dog and bake sale

3. Food Days

  • Pizza Day, Sushi Day, Boston Pasta Day
  • Dates are set, please see school calendar

4. PAC Kitchen Updates

  • New oven stove and some small appliances needed to be update at PAC Kitchen, quotation is now in process.

5. Sponsored Programs

  • Table Tennis and 4Cats are confirmed
  • We are still looking for a Performing Arts program

6. Sound Systems

  • Two more sets of sound field systems will be ordered.

7. School Photos

  • Will take place on Sept 24

8. Clothing Drive

  • Tentative date is Oct 22 - 26

9. School Logo Updates

  • Concerns has been raised and there might be an update of the current school logo

10. PAC Positions are still available

  • PAC is still actively looking for volunteers and some executive positions for the coming year

Administrative Report (Ms. Rooney):

  • Teachers attended Learning Challenge Workshops on Professional Development Day on Sept 21. New Reporting Guidelines and Online Portfolio
  • Cross-country Fun Run will be on Oct 17 at Garry Point Park for students from Grade One and up
  • Student Leadership Programs are in place *Me-to-We Club and Green Team
  • Vision-Mission-Value Posters are up on the walls around school focusing Lead and Learn and Code of Conduct
  • Outdoor classroom is on district yard works queue.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:40am with Alaric making the motion. Bonnie second. All in favor.

The next PAC meeting will take place at 9:00am, Tuesday, Oct 23rd, 2018.
